Meet the team

Morwen Johnson

Head of Policy and Intelligence

Morwen leads the Knowledge Exchange team and oversees delivery of our contract with the Greater London Authority to provide research support and information services. Morwen has a consultancy background in community regeneration and in evidence use in the public sector. Prior to this she worked at the King’s Fund, a charitable foundation focused on health policy. Morwen has a particular interest in using evidence for decision-making, making research accessible and ensuring it has impact.

Rebecca Jackson

Membership Manager

Rebecca joined us as a researcher in 2015 after graduating from the University of Stirling with a Masters in Public Policy. During her degree she volunteered with the Scottish Political Archive. Since 2021 she has been our Membership Manager, focused on understanding the information needs of our clients. She is responsible for customer engagement and develops bespoke services tailored to our clients’ strategic priorities. She also maintains a subject specialism in health and social care.

Donna Gardiner

Research Officer/Collections Manager

Donna joined the Knowledge Exchange twenty years ago and is our subject specialist for education and skills. She also manages our collection of management resources. Before joining us, Donna graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a MSc (Distinction) in Library and Information Studies. She manages our journals collection and also writes bespoke newsletters for Members of the London Assembly as part of our information services contract with the Greater London Authority.

Euan Nugent

Research Officer

Euan joined our team in 2021, having completed a postgraduate degree in Public and Urban Policy at the University of Glasgow where his research focused on the application of smart city technologies and public understanding of these in Scotland. He is the subject specialist for planning and regeneration, as well as having an interest in digital government. He produces bespoke current awareness newsletters for our clients on city regions, inclusive growth and infrastructure investment.

Heather Cameron

Research Officer/Enquiries Manager

Heather is an experienced Chartered Librarian and is responsible for managing and ensuring the quality of our Ask a Researcher service. This involves ensuring that the team have the specialist databases and knowledge needed to provide literature reviews and desk research for our clients. She also maintains our database keyword thesaurus. Heather is the subject specialist in economic development and has delivered research projects for Skills Development Scotland and Scottish Enterprise.

James Carson

Research Officer

James has been working for The Knowledge Exchange since June 2012. Prior to joining Idox, he was an information officer for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, and has also developed information services for Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and the Scottish Arts Council. James is our subject specialist for housing and the environment. He is the editor of our blog and also has a MLitt degree in creative writing from the University of Glasgow.

Katie Veitch

Library and Membership Support Officer

Katie joined the team in early 2023, coming from a school library and after completing her postgraduate degree in Information Management in Preservation at the University of Glasgow. Katie manages our journal and library loans service and is the first port of call for any of our customers needing help searching our public policy database. Katie works closely with Rebecca to promote our services to end users. Katie also runs the Knowledge Exchange’s social media accounts.

Kirsten Walker

Research Officer

Kirsten joined us in 2023 after working at the Care Inspectorate as part of their policy team. She is our subject specialist for health and social care. Kirsten was awarded both of her degrees from the University of Stirling – a BA in Politics and a MSc in Human Rights and Diplomacy – where she spent some time with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and also volunteered at the Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland.
