Beyond the Office: Martin Goes the Extra Mile for Breast Cancer Now

At Idox, we’re committed to giving back to the communities we serve. One of the most inspiring ways our team members contribute is through their dedication to charity fundraising and supporting important causes. Today, we want to share one such story with you.

Martin Bowman, one of our Deputy Service Desk Managers who has been with Idox for an impressive 21 years, is determined to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. As a member of the Breast Cancer Now fundraising team, Martin participates in various events to raise funds and awareness, driven by the hope of saving lives. Having already completed 25 half-marathons, five marathons and one ultra-marathon since taking up running 8 years ago, recently, Martin completed the London Marathon alongside his step-daughter, Beth, all in support of Breast Cancer Now.

Carrying 26 pink roses, 13 each, they handed out one rose for every mile of the marathon. Why 26 roses? Because on average, one person is diagnosed with breast cancer every 10 minutes in the UK — that’s roughly one person for every mile run during the marathon.

Their marathon journey was about raising awareness and funds for a cause close to their hearts. This year marks seven years since Martin’s wife’s diagnosis with primary breast cancer, a moment that changed their lives forever.

While reaching this milestone is significant, Martin acknowledges that the journey doesn’t end there. “That’s why I continue to support this charity,” Martin shares. “They fund research for a cure and provide care for those affected, ensuring no one faces breast cancer alone.”

Since Martin started fundraising for Breast Cancer Now, he’s raised over £9000! 

We extend a huge congratulations to Martin and Beth for their incredible efforts. Their dedication not only raises funds for Breast Cancer Now but also spreads awareness about this devastating disease.
